Agnes A. Hidding

Agnes A. Hidding, age 84 of Elma, Iowa passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Lourdes, Iowa with Father Mark Murphy celebrating. Burial will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Lourdes.

Agnes was born on January 25, 1933 in Elma, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Veronica (Kanies) Meier. She attended country school in the Elma area and also attended the Elma Catholic School to the eighth grade. On May 8, 1951, Agnes was united in marriage to Donald Hidding at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma. Following their marriage, the couple made their home near Elma where they farmed and raised their two sons, Thomas and Jerry and daughter, Joann. Agnes played her role on the farm working in the fields, milking cows and helping with various chores. After Donald’s death on March 23, 1996, Agnes remained on the farm where she lived out the remainder of her years with her son, Jerry.
Agnes enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Agnes is survived by her two sons, Thomas (Marsha) Hidding and Jerry Hidding, both of Elma; her daughter Joann (Charles) King of Charles City, IA; her five grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Hidding of Alta Vista, IA, Matthew Hidding of Elma, Michele (Raymond) Kleen of New Hampton, IA, Jason (Brittany) King and Andrea King, both of Charles City; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Natalie, Thomas, Madison, Kody and Ryland; one brother, Francis (Lois) Meier of Elma; one sister-in-law, Rosalie Meier of Elma and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; her brothers, Walter, Jerome, Harold and Arnold Meier and her sisters, Angeline Helmeirich and Rosella Ptacek.
