Andrew “Andy” Nystel, age 88, of Lawler, died Monday, June 18, 2012 at Cedar Health in Charles City, IA. Andrew N. Nystel was born May 21, 1924 on the family farm in rural Lawler to Andrew and Mary Christina (Anderson) Nystel. He was baptized and confirmed at Crane Creek Lutheran Church. Andy attended country school in Jacksonville Township. After his schooling he lived and worked with his family on the family farm in rural Lawler where he resided until recent years. Andy was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, taking part in many facets, as well as a former member of the NFO. He enjoyed farming, hunting and especially playing cards with friends and family. Andy is survived by his nieces, Mary (Jacque) Mitchell of Kissimmee, FL, Carol Tucker and Mildred Nystel, both of Calmar, IA; one nephew, Russell Howe of Lawler; numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Erick, Jetmond, Ingval, Omer and Ingvald in infancy; four sisters, Agnes Howe, Geneva Nystel, and Edna and Mildred, both in infancy; as well as one nephew, Andrew Nystel (son of Omer). Cemetery: Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Alta Vista. Memorials may be directed to the family. at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton and will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday. at Zion Lutheran Church in Alta Vista, IA with Pastor Vincent Fricke officiating.
