Ardes J. King, age 90, of Lawler, IA passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Colonial Manor in Elma, IA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Lawler with Fathers Nick Radloff and Brian Dellaert concelebrating. Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Lawler. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton, IA with a 3:30 PM Rosary and 8:00 PM Scriptural Wake Service. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral mass on Saturday. Online condolences may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com. Memorials may be directed to the family. Ardes Jean was born April 28, 1931 to Thrond and Bertha (Ehret) Throndson in Lawler, IA. She attended country school. While at a dance at Junko Hall, Ardes was smitten by a young man by the name of Thomas “Jim” James King. They were united in marriage on August 30, 1949 at Reilly Ridge. The couple made their home in Lawler where they welcomed their ten children, Cathy, Jeannie, Lauren, Gary, Raymond, Karen, Kevin, Dennis, Darrin, and Terry Joe. Together, they farmed and milked side by side until Jim’s sudden death on May 15, 1977. Ardes continued to manage the farm and milk the cattle until she retired in 1995. Ardes enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and working at Cutsforth Pizza and Chicken. Her family were her pride and joy. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Cathy Burden of Morning Sun, IA, Jeannie Day of Muscatine, IA, Gary (Melody) King of New Hampton, Raymond King of Wilton, IA, Karen (Dan) Rosonke of New Hampton, Dennis King of Lawler, and Darrin (Dawn) King of Lawler; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; her sister, Helen (Jack) Whalen of Lawler; sisters-in-law, Lou Ann Throndson of Waucoma, IA, Pat Hageman of Shell Rock, IA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thrond and Bertha Throndson; husband, Jim in 1977; three sons, Kevin, Lauren and Terry Joe; great-grandson, Dakota Cromer; great-granddaughter, Kaydence Rein Barker; her brothers, Clarence (Rita) Throndson, Irvin (Florence) Throndson, Bob (Arlene) Throndson, Harlan Throndson; sisters, Caroline Throndson and Bernice (Merle) Cutsforth; sisters-in-law, Helen (Fred) Pickering, Mary Agnes (Carl) Swenson, Sally (Jack) Peck; brothers-in-law, Walter “Bud” Vrzak, Don (Bertha) King, and Quentin “Hap” Hageman.
