Arlene S. Dahlen

Arlene S. Dahlen, age 91 of West Union, IA formerly of Lawler, IA passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, IA. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Jerico Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jerico, IA with Pastor Peter Faugstad officiating. A visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the memorial service. Burial will be at Jerico Cemetery in Jerico. Arlene Shirley was born February 26, 1925 to Ward and Ruth (Monahan) Houser on the family farm near Alpha, IA. She attended and graduated from Alpha High School. On October 19, 1956, Arlene was united in marriage to Orville Dahlen at the Little Brown Church near Nashua. The couple made their home in Lawler where they farmed until their retirement. Arlene spent many years as a caregiver for Pastor Gullickson’s family, as well as Arlene’s brother Arnold. She was a member of Jerico Lutheran Church. Arlene is survived by her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville; her brothers, LaVern and Arnold and her sister, Donna.
