Eleanor “Ellie” M. Hill, age 91, of Viroqua, WI, formerly of New Hampton, IA passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Holy Family Parish in New Hampton with Father Brian Dellaert celebrating the mass. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in New Hampton. There will be a one hour visitation at the church prior to the funeral mass on Friday. Online Condolences may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com. Memorials may be directed to the family. She was born in Fort Atkinson, Iowa to Joseph and Mary Martinek. Ellie graduated from Decorah High School in 1947. She met and married her husband Robert William Hill on October 7, 1950. They made their home in New Hampton, Iowa for most of their married life. They later moved to Viroqua, Wisconsin to be near their daughter. Ellie was an active member of her church and was involved in politics and various volunteer activities such as Meals on Wheels, AARP tax prep and activities of Chickasaw County Home. She loved to work in her garden and flowers along with knitting for her family and friends. Elie is survived by her husband, Robert and their four daughters, Chris Radcliff of St. Paul, MN, Mary Jo Debner (Gary) of Keosauqua, IA, Jean (Jim) Cox of St. Charles, MO, and Margy (Ben) Burton of Chaseburg, WI. She is also survived by two sisters, Mildred Jacoby and Sister Ann Therese “Florence” Martinek and three brothers, Mark, Julius and Daniel Martinek. Ellie is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Ellie was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, James P., Valerian, and James; two sisters, Lillian and Eileen and son-in-law, Joseph. She will always be remembered for her bright blue eyes, beautiful smile and generous heart. Thank you to the wonderful caring staff of Helping Hands, Maplewood Terrace and Bethel Home.   1. Bob, you have my deepest sympathy! I always enjoyed visiting Eleanor and you when I was growing up as neighbors and later on when I was Housing Director. She always enjoyed showing me pictures of the girls and their families when I would stop by with papers for you. You and the girls and their families are in my prayers.

She was so much fun and so full of energy and truly cared about other people. I still remember stories she told and advice she gave and I can almost hear her laugh.
