Evelyn G. Moetsch, age 98, of New Hampton, IA, died on Monday, December 6, 2010 at New Hampton Care Center in New Hampton. Evelyn G. Moetsch was born in Menominee Township, Jo Davies County, IL on November 5, 1912, the daughter of James and Evelyn (Gronnor) Glasgow, the fourth of five children. The family moved to Galena, IL in 1924 where she attended the Galena Public School graduating from there in June of 1931. In August 1931 Evelyns parents were killed in a car-train accident near Galena. Following the accident, Evelyn and her sister Rosemary moved to New Hampton to live with their Aunt Florence Gronner. But they took many nieces and nephews under their wing to show them a little bigger picture of areas other than just their typical surroundings. Earl and Evelyn also enjoyed taking them out to dine in very nice restaurants. Evelyn worked as an abstracter, as well as for Chickasaw County Treasurers office as Deputy County Treasurer. In 1950 when her Aunt Florence Gronner passed away she purchased Aunt Florences apparel shop in Sumner, IA which she later sold in 1964. Together Evelyn and Earl owned and operated the L Kove Lounge in New Hampton. They also had a small farm north of New Hampton Airport. Evelyn attended the Congregational United Church of Christ, as well as a 71year member and past Matron of the order of the Eastern Star. She was very proud of this fact and talked about what it meant to her many times; she cherished her Eastern Star friends. Evelyn enjoyed eating out, traveling, quilting, crocheting, embroidery and sewing, flowers, feeding stray cats, birds, nature and long walks.
