Evelyn M. Bearman, age 97 of New Hampton, IA passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018 at New Hampton Nursing and Rehab. Funeral services for Evelyn will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton with a one hour visitation prior to the funeral service. Evelyn Marie was born January 12, 1921, the daughter of Joseph and Albina (Pecinovsky) Soukup on the family farm in Utica Township. She attended East Saude Country School, Reilly Ridge Country School and Rudolphium Catholic School in Protivin. Evelyn left school in the eleventh year to take care of her mother. Evelyn then worked for Ruggles, AMP and Fliggers Bakery in New Hampton, she also worked at Sears in Des Moines prior to marrying Harry Bearman on November 15, 1945. The couple had one son, David whom they raised on their farm near Fredericksburg, Iowa. Evelyn and Harry purchased the Center Valley Supper Club near Sumner in 1971, which they owned and operated until 1983. Making their home in New Hampton in 1985, Evelyn went to work for the Village Inn until her retirement in 1997. Evelyn and Harry enjoyed dancing, fishing, boating and farming together. You could find Evelyn sewing and decorating cakes while enjoying her favorite music. Evelyn was a fantastic cook and known for her pies. She so appreciated all her friends and neighbors. Evelyn enjoyed attending every family gathering and oh, how she loved her family! Those left to cherish her memory is her daughter-in-law; Joyce Bearman of Ionia, IA; her grandchildren, Billy (Jenni) Bearman of New Hampton, Bruce Bearman of Sumner, IA and Jim (Amanda) Bearman of Nashua, IA; her great-grandchildren, Jake, Cody, Taylor, Tori, Ty, Wyatt and Walker. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry in 2000 and her son, David in 2015 and one grandson, Joseph in 1984.

It’s not the same looking over there & not seeing her reading with the lamp over her shoulder for light. Her “wit” & smile were infectious. We thank God that our paths crossed.
