Harry W. Pietan, age 94 of New Hampton, IA passed away Friday, March 4, 2011 at New Hampton Care Center. Harry William Pietan was born on March 26, 1916 to Frank and Bertha (Beckman) Pietan in New Hampton. He attended school in New Hampton and graduated from New Hampton High School. He worked at several occupations before he took over farming from his father in 1933. Harry continued to farm until the time of his retirement. Harry was united in marriage to Marvel Carol Paul on August 20, 1960 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Harry enjoyed fishing, playing cards and visiting with friends and neighbors. Harry felt it was very important to give to the New Hampton Community for the betterment of future generations. Harry is survived by his step-daughter, Gloria Paul of New Hampton; one sister-in-law, Eleanor Paul of South Dakota and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his loving wife, Marvel on September 25, 1999. Memorials: Memorials may be directed to the New Hampton Fire Department. Cemetery: Burial will be at New Hampton Cemetery in New Hampton with the New Hampton Firemen serving as casket bearers. Visitation: Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, March 6 2011 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. Service: Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM on Monday, March 7 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton with Pastor Kevin Frey officiating.
