Hildegard Zweibohmer, age 95, of Alta Vista, IA died Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton, IA. Hildegard Marie Zweibohmer “Hilda” was born on March 7, 1916 in Alta Vista, IA to Herman and Mary (Koci) Galing. She attended country school and St. Mary’s Catholic School in North Washington, IA. On November 17, 1936, Hilda was united in marriage to Hubert Zweibohmer at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Washington. After their marriage, the couple moved to a farm northeast of Alta Vista until 1973 when they retired and moved into Alta Vista. For several years she was a housekeeper for Fr. Paul Ouderkirk. In June, 2010 Hilda moved to Colonial Manor in Elma where she resided until her recent illness. She was an active member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, The Rosary Society, ACCW and Catholic Order of Foresters. Hilda is survived by her six daughters and two sons, Rose (Jerome) Marion of Ionia, IA, William (Sharon) Zweibohmer of Elma, Marlys (John) Recker of Roswell, GA, Joseph (Donna) Zweibohmer of Elma, LaVonne (Bill) Majerle of Stoughton, WI, Rita Sinnwell of Charles City, IA, Theresa (John) Barnes of Cresco, IA and Linda (Jim) Kobliska of Alta Vista; 30 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Rosella Reiss of Charles City; sisters-in-law, Ruby Galing of Alta Vista, Helen (Adrian) Freidhof of New Hampton and Armella Zweibohmer of Decorah, IA. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hubert on March 16, 1989; her parents; two sisters, Agnes Eichenberger and Helen Geerts; two brothers, Bernard and Henry Galing, as well as three grandsons, Michael and Kevin Marion and Steven Sinnwell. Memorials: Memorials may be directed to the family. Cemetery: Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Alta Vista. Visitation: Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00pm, Friday, July 8, 2011 with a 4:30pm Rosary and Scriptural Wake Service at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma, IA. Visitation will continue at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Service: Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30am, Saturday, July 9, 2011 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Alta Vista.

    I was looking at the memorial foreonard Recker and came across your mother’s memorial. What a beautiful women.
    I remember staying at your arents home as child. Your mother was so kind to me.
    I live in Wausau,Wi now, but I enjoyed your friendship and the welcome from your family when I was a child in Iowa.
