Larry L. Christensen, age 59 of New Hampton, IA completed his journey in his fight against Multiple Sclerosis on the anniversary of his father’s passing, Friday, February 8, 2019. A celebration of life for Larry will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton with 6:45 Scriptural Wake Service. Online condolences for Larry’s family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com. Private burial will be held at a later date in Calvary Cemetery at New Hampton. Larry was born in Ottawa, IL on July 8, 1959 to Ed and Marilee (Tiernan) Christensen. He attended and graduated from New Hampton High School in the class of 1977. After completing his education he went on to receive a degree in Powerline Technology from Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon. He was employed by the Cresco and Postville REC for 18 years. Larry adored his classmates and his friends, remaining close throughout the years. One of Larry’s favorite pastimes was to play golf with his father, and spend time with those close to him. Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Marilee Christensen of New Hampton; his brothers Kent (Cindy) Christensen and their children, Claire and Wesley, and Rich Christensen of Florida; his uncle, Larry (Marcia) Christensen of Thornton, IA and his cousins, Kail Christensen of Vail, CO and Kim Christensen of Appleton, MN. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin; his grandparents, Chris and Marge Christensen, and William and Lee Tiernan.

  5. I remember Larry from high school , class of ’77. Later I would often see him at Klunders, he always had a smile an a kind word. May he rest in peace.

  6. It was a privilege and a pleasure to care for and get to know Larry. He had such a kind heart and wonderful personality. When I watch late night basketball I will always remember him . He kept me company on many nights at work. Thank you Merilee for sharing your beloved son with all of us at Linn Haven. I will think of him with smiles and laughter and a box of milk duds!!

    What a guy, Larry was a real charmer in his day! Always giving out the compliments! We are sad that the disease took over his last years, but we will remember him at his best on the course in Elma and NH and out and about town– always was a good time when he was around!
