LaVern A. Jarosh age 91, died peacefully at Colonial Manor of Elma on December 13, 2014. Graveside memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Lourdes, IA. There will be a time for celebration following the cemetery at the VFW Paul Johanna Post 4069 in Alta Vista form 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. LaVern was born on July 21, 1923 in Maple Leaf Iowa to William Joseph and Louise Mary (Slifka) Jarosh. He graduated from Elma high school in 1941. Following high school he served in the U.S. Navy for four years during WWII. Upon his return he was married to Ann Young together they had two children, Cheryl and Patricia. He later married Helen Williams together they had four children Cheryl “Cookie”, John, Heather, and Lee. LaVern was a truck driver for Associated Trucking out of Yuba City, CA for 46 years. He was a hard worker, and a member of the American Legion Post #597 of Elma, IA. LaVern is survived by his children Cheryl Jarosh of Salem, MA, Cheryl “Cookie” (Donn) Porter of Ormond Beach FL, and Lee Jarosh of Alta Vista, IA; grandchildren Michael, Jeseanne, Jason, Drew, Alissa; great-grandchildren Kathum, and Lily. He was preceded in death by his parents; children Patricia Hanan, John Jarosh, and Heather Jarosh.
