Madonna Recker, age 93, of Alta Vista, IA passed away on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton, IA with her family by her side. Madonna Elizabeth was born on October 6, 1919 in Chickasaw County to August and Anna (Delsing) Felder. She attended St. William’s School in Alta Vista. On June 7, 1938, Madonna was united in marriage to Al (Aloys) Recker, they were married 71 years before his death in 2009. The couple was involved in farming for 74 years. Madonna was actively involved in church and community activities. She enjoyed her family, crocheting, quilting, gardening, playing the organ and bowling. Madonna is survived by her children, Patricia Recker of Kansas City, MO, Mary Jane (Cash) O’Rourke of Severna Park, MD, Rose Marie (Helmut) Bonigut of Paso Robles, CA, Don (Lois) Recker of Cresco, IA, Maggie Rivers (Tom Thiel) of New Holstein, WI; seven grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; her sisters Rita Ann Nuebel and Helen Ray; her sisters-in-law, Bernice Felder and Delores Felder and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Al; her brothers, Gene, Ray, Jerry and Bernard; sisters, Irma and Irene; sister-in-law, Phyllis Felder and grandson, Brett Rivers. Cemetery: Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Alta Vista. Memorials may be directed to the family. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma with a 6:00pm Scriptural Wake Service. Visitation will continue at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial for Madonna will be held at 10:30am, Thursday, December 6, 2012 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Alta Vista with Father Steve Garner celebrating.

I enjoyed all my visits with her at the Colonial Manor and she appreciated it all. We know she is happy with Al now, so often she’d ask if I saw Al so she really missed him.   17. Just heard of your mom’s passing. My prayers are with you all. She was a wondeful lady. I remember all the times I went to the farm with dad and invited in for coffee and freashly baked trreats.
