Raphael “Ray” N. Panoch, age 81, of New Hampton, IA, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare in New Hampton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Holy Family Parish in New Hampton, IA with Father Brian Dellaert and Msgr Carl Schmitt celebrating mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in New Hampton with military rites by the New Hampton American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton with a Rosary at 4:30 PM and will continue at the church one hour prior to mass on Saturday. Online condolences for Ray’s family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com. Memorials may be directed to the family. Raphael “Ray” Norbert Panoch was born on June 21, 1937 to W. Joseph and Rose Ann (Bilek) Panoch at Elma, IA. Ray attended school in Elma and graduated from New Hampton High School in 1955. He entered the US Army in 1956 and received honorable discharge in 1959. Ray was united in marriage to Carol Schluetter on August 20, 1960 at Immaculate Conception Church in North Washington, IA. The couple made their home in the New Hampton area. Ray was employed at White Farm Equipment in Charles City, IA for several years before becoming employed by New Hampton Metal Fab until his retirement. Ray enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and playing cards. He especially enjoyed his family and friends. Ray was a member of Holy Family Parish in New Hampton. Ray is survived by his wife of 58 years Carol of New Hampton; children Michelle (Alan) Tschida of Burnsville, MN and Michael (Kelly) Panoch of Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren Alaina and Erica Tschida and Adam, Ryan and Maggie Panoch; sister Gigi Wollenberg of Rochester, MN and several nieces and nephews. Ray is preceded in death by his parents W. Joseph and Rose Ann Panoch; sisters Lorraine Scholbrock and Rose Marie Blong; and brothers Leland, Joseph, Ronald and Donald.
