Rita A. Rasing, age 82, of New Hampton, IA passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021 at New Hampton Nursing and Rehab with her family by her side. A private memorial mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Holy Family Parish with Father Brian Dellaert celebrating. Rita Ann was born February 6, 1939, the daughter of John and Johanna (Hoffman) Jacobs in New Hampton. She attended school at St. Mary’s in North Washington. While attending a dance in Lawler, Rita met the love of her life, Leo Rasing. The couple were united in marriage on April 25, 1956 at Immaculate Conception Church in North Washington. Rita and Leo made their home on the Rasing Farm and welcomed their eight children, Joyce, Karen, Linda, Ken, Jim, Kevin, Melvin and Bob. While raising her family, Rita worked outside the home at Bemiss Bakery in New Hampton. She also obtained her CNA License and worked at New Hampton Care Center and Floyd County Memorial Hospital. Her most important role and true joy was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Together, Rita and Leo were an example of faith and love for their family. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, baking, traveling across the United States and wintering in McAllen, TX. Rita and Leo were members of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia. Those left to cherish Rita’s memory are her children, Joyce Rasing of Hugo, MN, Karen (Duane) Schwickerath of Waverly, IA, Linda Woodruff of Rudd, IA, Ken (Shari) Rasing of New Hampton, Jim Rasing of New Hampton, Kevin (Peney) Rasing of Fredericksburg, IA and Bob Rasing of Charles City; her 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, one great great-grandchild; a brother-in-law, Roger (Kathleen) Rasing of Ankeny, IA; a sister-in-law, Darlene Carver of Greenwood, IN and numerous nieces and nephews. She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents; her husband, Leo on March 23, 2021; her son Melvin; grandson, Travis; son-in-law, Scott Woodruff; her siblings, Helen (Dean) Chambers, John (Beverly) Jacobs, Mary (Paul) Meihost, JoAnn (Raymond) Meihost, Leo Jacobs, Linus (Marilyn) Jacobs, Francis (Josie) Jacobs and Melvin Jacobs in infancy.

  5. Rita was good a good friend to my Mom while she was placed into the nursing home. They shared jokes and laughed and I enjoyed many conversations with her. She was special; a sweet matron, making sure that everyone was doing well.

  6. Sorry for your loss. Enjoyed visiting with Rita when I would visit my mom at nursing home. What a sweet lady.

  7. Ken and Shari, I am late in sending my sympathy to you in the passing of your mother. I always enjoyed seeing Rita out and about as she was so pleasant and enjoyed many a laugh with her! A lovely lady and she will be missed.
