Robert L. Lore

Robert LaVern (Bob) Lore, age 76, passed away April 7th, 2009 at home surrounded by family. Bob was born November 29, 1932 in Charles City, son of Eugene and Lila (Harris). January 1955 he married Maida Boggess and to this marriage five children were born, they later divorced. In 1971, he united in marriage to Bonnie Bigelow. Bob attended school in Ionia and Pearle Rock. He joined the Navy in December 1952; he was honorably discharged November 7th, 1956. He was decorated with good conduct, United Nations, Korean service and national Defense. He was a life time member of the Nashua VFW. Bob loved trucking and visiting with many people, as he hauled across all the states for many years. He worked for Allied Redi Mix in Charles City for many years. Bob enjoyed moving snow, digging in the dirt and hauling dirt. He also worked for Reicks Trucking in New Hampton. He loved to play with his Big Toys!! Bob also loved to sit at the kitchen table having coffee and visiting with everyone that would stop by. He was always voicing his opinion, joking and laughing. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Ionia. His children, Denise (Jerry) Conway of Austin, TX, Jeff (special friend Kay) of Bellville, TX, Bobby (Pam) of Bassett, Valerie (Mark) Tedder of Buda, TX, David Lore of Austin, TX and Michelle (Jeromy) Winter of Ionia. He is also survived by his brother Jim (H. James) of Charles City and sister-in-laws; Phyllis Council of CA, Doris Lore of IL and Mildred (Mickey) Lore of Nashua. He has 16 grandchildren, 6 great children and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, great grandson, John Anthony Fey of Austin, TX, brothers; Clayton and Marvin, and sister, Lila Jean. Cemetery: Burial will be in the Cedar View Cemetery, rural Ionia with Alan Steinlage, Dave Crandall, Steve Lowe, Ed Foxen, Jim Ashley, Roger Winter and Jim Link serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Fred Miller, Don Stuart, Dick Meyer and Jim Norton. Military Rites will be provided by Nashua VFW. Visitation: Visitation will be from 4PM-8PM on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at the Ionia Funeral Home in Ionia, and will continue at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Service: Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, April 10, 2009 at Ionia Funeral Chapel in Ionia, with Pastor James Mann officiating.
