Vera Clara Paulson

Vera C. Paulson, age 97, of rural Elma, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton, IA.
Funeral Servies will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Jerico Lutheran Church in Jerico, IA with Pastor Peter Faugstad officiating. Burial will be in Jerico Lutheran Cemetery at Jerico, IA.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 PM on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton, IA and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Vera Ida Clara Kammeyer was born on August 8, 1920 in rural Fredericksburg, IA to Ernest and Carolina “Lena” (Wittkop) Kammeyer. She was baptized on August 29, 1920 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg and confirmed on June 2, 1935 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Vera attended country school near Fredericksburg. She worked for her parents and neighbors. Vera then worked at the Key Overall Company in New Hampton, Hauth Drug and Sara Lee. Vera was united in marriage to Alvin “Bud” Paulson on January 2, 1956 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Hampton. The couple made their home in New Hampton until 1958 when they moved to their farm north of Jerico where they have lived ever since. She enjoyed playing cards, especially solitare, gardening, sewing and baking. She was a member of Jerico Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and Howard County Liners Women’s Group. Vera was active up to the very end. She made lefse and canned tomatoes the week prior to breaking her hip.
Vera is survived by her husband Alvin “Bud” of Elma, IA; children, Larry Paulson of Elma, IA and Barbara Nevin of Woodbury, MN; granddaughters, Kristina Nevin and Johanna Nevin both of Woodbury, MN; sisters-in-law, Leona Kammeyer of New Hampton, Lucille Karns of
Evansdale, IA and LuAnn Lipp of Mason City, IA; brother-in-law, Harold (Marge) Paulson of San Leandro, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
Vera is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Carolina Kammeyer; daughter, Joan on November 9, 1982; sister, Sophia Hoth and brother, Wilmer Kammeyer.
Barb–Sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. She is now in Heaven with the Angels and is guiding & loving you during this difficult time. Prayers to you, your Dad and family.
