  1. Our sympathy to the Johnson family, ie, Marland & Jean Anne and Wally & Peggy. I had the privilege to meet Charles through his niece, Marla. May he rest in peace.

    Pete & Lisa Reicks

  2. I shared with Wally the other day that in life there are only a few people whom you meet that you can say it was truly a pleasure to have known them. Charles was definitely one of those people for me. I will never forget his jokes, his harmonica playing and his genuine good nature. It was such a joy to have known him and his family. He is undoubtedly singing and playing his way through the gates! God’s peace to each of you! Michele RIng

  3. My sympathy to Charles Johnson family. Charles was my mentor growing up on our farm which was a short distance from his. He took me to the Cresco wrestling meets, which led me to a teaching & coaching career. Charles was humble man who loved music, hunting, telling jokes, & Jesus. Thank you Charles for the great example you set and for being a good friend over the years. Your life was a “Job well Done”. Sincerely Joe Frank

  4. VERY SAD TO HEAR CHUCK PASSED AWAY. 5. We extend our sympathy to Charles’ family. He was quite a guy. A good story teller. This is a perfect picture of him, that infectious smile. Blessed be his memory. Sincerely, Norman and Judy (Tostenson) Teigen

  6. I met Charles when my husband, Jim O’Connor, was a resident at Patty Elwood Center in Cresco. I really enjoyed visiting with this fine man. RIP!

  7. Please accept our sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one. Jesus promises that we will be able to see our loved ones again at John 5:28,29 which talks about the resurrection hope. What a wonderful hope that will be! May this bible thought bring you comfort at this difficult time.

  8. We wanted to extend our condolences to Charles’ family. I remember the boys sharing stories on our ride home from church that Charles had told. He had a quick wit and loved to laugh. He will be missed.

  9. Chuck was a very special friend to our family. We always knew him as a kind, gentle, honest man,who worked hard his whole life, yet always found time for friends. He and my husband played in the band together many times, and many places. When we went to visit him the last time, he came to life when we asked him to play the harmonica, and he played steady for almost 20 min. and sang songs I never heard of, and never missed a word…such a sweet guy, and will be missed.
May God be with you Chuck, and bless you forever.
Sorry for the family’s loss, but hopefully the memories will bring you comfort .
Sincerely, Sharon Landa (Mrs. Wilmer Landa)

  10. It is so sad you had to go . Our family loved you very much . We kids would love it when you were in the band with Dad and would come over to practice. You were the only one we ever knew to play the Mandolin ever so it was a gift you gave us that we treasure dearly. Dianne(Landa) Bremseth

  11. was my dad Wilmer Landa in the same band cuz that is one of the bands i remember him being in with chuck .. what instrument did you play ?

  12. I took care of Charlie at Patty Elwood, and enjoyed his company. He was a good guy. I was looking up Iwo Jima, and remembered him talking about Ira Hayes, and his helping of raising the first flag. Charles was right there too, I can’t imagine
