dale bodermann
Dale Bodermann, age 78, of Elma, IA, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Dale Orville Bodermann was born on May 8, 1936 to Otto and Lenora (Schmidt) Bodermann on the family farm north of Elma, IA. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Peter Lutheran Church in Elma where he was a lifetime member. Dale attended Afton Township Country School #7 and graduated from Elma High School in 1955. After graduation he farmed the family farm his entire life. Dale was united in marriage to Darlene Austinson on August 22, 1965 at LeRoy Lutheran Church in LeRoy, MN and to this union 5 children were born. Dale enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s events, playing cards, and driving tractor for Max Schmidt during harvest season. He liked to drive his Allis Chalmers tractors. His favorite color was blue so all the cars he drove and the shirts that he wore were blue. Faith, family and farming were his life. On the day he had his stroke he was on his way back from watering his sheep and cattle. Dale is survived by his wife of 49 years, Darlene of Elma, IA; his children Darla Erickson of Spring Valley, MN, Duane (Kelly) Bodermann of Elma, IA, Diane (Larry) Trende of Cresco, IA, and Darcy (Eric) Wemark of Ridgeway, IA; 11 grandchildren Whitney Erickson, Dillon, Brooke, Blair, and Brynn Bodermann, Trevor and Lauren Trende, and Carson, Addison, Bryson and Emerson Wemark; siblings Marie Rabenberg of Orlando, FL, John Bodermann of Dallas Center, IA, Irma Jensen of Elma, IA, and Leona (Harold) Reed of Truman, MN; brother-in-law Delmar (Barbara) Austinson of Mason City, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
