Dennis Steven was born November 5, 1957, the son of Norbert and Loretta (Dean) Boge in Charles City, IA. He attended and graduated from Nashua High School. After completing his education, Dennis worked concrete construction building rural elevators. He also worked as a tree trimmer and general construction worker throughout the years. Dennis was always an independent, free spirit and lived life on his terms. In his time away from work, Dennis was found submersed in nature. Whether he was hunting, fishing, agate or mushroom hunting, and gardening, one could be sure to find him in the woods, by the river and bicycling. Dennis was never afraid to dive in when someone needed help.
Dennis is survived by his daughter, Christina Starkey of Mason City, IA; his sisters, Lucille (Claire) Lane of Charles City, Faye Barr of Cedar Falls, IA, MaryLou (Bernd) Richter of Ionia, Carol (Gary) Goddard of Nashua, IA and Janet Poe of Minneapolis, MN; his brother, Arnie (Carol) Boge of Ionia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Bob and Leon Boge; and his brothers-in-law, Gary Poe, Dennis Barr, Bernd Richter and Rodney Barnes.

i can still hear his voice while he says “hi”. idk how many times he asked me out for coffee or was my great defender against the masses at any one of my jobs. his smile was so kind and comforting. he alwavs had the best advice and kept his chin up against those who seemed to comstantly judge him. there’s been good times, there’s been bad times. but in the end he lived and died the only way he could-HIS WAY! I love you denny! You were my friend and will not be forgotten.
I have so many memories of Denny, as distant neighbors growing up together we would ride our bikes and horses around the neighborhood. Denny and I always had each others backs right up to the day we graduated. My condolences go out to the family of Denny.

Sorry to hear of Denny’s passing. While I knew him to be a tormented soul, I always considered him a friend. Enjoyed mushroom hunting, cutting wood and having him help our family with household projects while I lived next to him on Clark St. Rest in Peace Denny.
Dennis had a good soul that was missed by so many people, but not all. I’m glad I had the chance to know him. May God help you Rest in Peace Dennis.
I am lucky to have so many memories of uncle Dennis. His heart always lay in the right place but like so many of us, family history and genetics lay a heavy burden on his life. What I know for sure is he loved so many deeply. His love for nature and a connection to something larger than himself was very important to him. Where ever your soul rests know I thank you for your kindness always!
