After completing her education, Doris worked for neighbors as a housekeeper and babysitter. She later became a waitress at the Frontier Club in Charles City for several years. On December 12, 1945, Doris was united in marriage to Dale Adams Charles City. The couple made their home on a farm near Ionia where they lived all their married lives. They also owned and operated the Uptown Café in Charles City for 45 years. Doris enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doris also loved her gardening, especially her flower garden. She was also well known for her apple pies. People always looked forward to seeing what her donkey and boy statue would be wearing for the season as they drove by her home on Highway 18. Doris was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and always enjoyed working bingo nights at church.
Doris is survived by her children, Larry (Mary) Adams of Miles City, MT and Sharon (Bruce) Kellogg of Ionia; her grandchildren, Travis (Christie) Adams, Lucas (Nicole) Adams, Shane Adams, Jereb (Jamie) Kellogg, Malinda Trende (Nick Kresser) and Ross (Brooke) Kellogg; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
