Gary Wayne was born on April 8, 1949 to Robert and Clareen (Mobraaten) Bartness in Fergus Falls, MN. He attended and graduated from Elbow Lake High School in 1967. Upon graduating Gary attended Ohio University in Athens, OH. He began his lifelong career with Hillandale Farms in 1971 in Ohio, moving to New Hampton in 1972. In 1974, his daughter, Lisa Christina was born. On September 17, 1988, Gary was united in marriage to Pamela Anne Larsen at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton. In 1990, the couple welcomed their only son, Eric Robert. Gary was devoted to his career, but always made time for his family and friends. He was passionate about hunting, fishing, and traveling; regularly returning to his home in Northern Minnesota to enjoy the outdoors. Gary also shared his time with the community he called home volunteering for local civic charities and egg industry organizations.
Gary is survived by his wife, Pamela Bartness of New Hampton; his mother, Clareen Bartness of Elbow Lake, MN; his children, Lisa (Brent) Reich of Billings, MT and Eric Bartness of New Hampton, IA along with extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Bartness.

Don’t really have the words here as we reminisce about all the great times we’ve had with Gary, Pam, Eric and Lisa over the past 40 years. Can’t count all the duck blinds, rounds of golf and rounds of cocktails I’ve shared with Gary during that time – but sure enjoyed them all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Pam, God bless you and your family with beautiful memories of Gary. I will keep thoughts and prayers for you close to my heart.
Pam, Lisa, and Eric,
Our thoughts to all of you. I had the privilege of playing in a foursome with Gary for a few years at the NHCC, and sharing a Cabin Still or two. What a nice guy. A kind and gentle man. Like my dad, I don’t believe I ever heard him utter a bad word about anyone. I’m the only one left from that foursome, and I kind of feel envious of those guys and the fun they will have golfing, and then going fishing.
God speed.
Our sympathy to Pam, Eric, & Lisa for the loss of Gary. He was a great guy, who always had a smile to share. Find comfort that he is no longer suffering or in pain…and you now have a special angel to watch over you. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Please accept our sincere condolences. May the words quoted from this song bring you a measure of comfort as it did for us.
”If a man or woman should die, can they live again?
Hear the promise God has made:
He will call; The dead will answer.
They shall live at his command.
For he will have a longing
For the work of his own hand.
So have faith, and do not wonder,
For our God can make us stand.
And we shall live forever,
As the work of his own hand ”(Job 14:13-15)

I did not know Gary that long since I have only lived on lake pomme de terre since April of 2013. He let me fish from his dock and was a true great person to be around. Gary made you smile and he wanted to make sure if there was something that you needed to don’t hesitate to ask. I will miss him.
Hello, Pam –
We were so sad to hear about Gary, what a fighter he was! So many memories, one of our very first friends as a new couple in New Hampton. A true gentleman, wish the four of us could have spent more time together, but we had to go and move to Arizona! Really enjoyed the couple of times we stayed with you two in recent years while visiting NH. You coming into his life was a great blessing!
We want to send a memorial, and wondered if Gary had a favorite charity in mind. . . Bruce wondered about Ducks Unlimited? Send us an email at paula.sheehy@icloud.com when you have a minute.
Love you,
Bruce & Paula
