He was united in marriage to Florence Schwickerath on November 20, 1947 at St Mary's Catholic Church in New Hampton. The couple resided in New Hampton all of their married life. They enjoyed traveling together, visiting their children, and welcoming guests into their home. Irv loved spending time with his family, playing cards, woodworking, and raising and training horses. Irv was a successful local businessman in his own right. He established Irv's DX in 1960 at the corner of Linn and Main (where First Citizen’s Bank is now located). In 1967 he purchased the Texaco station across the street from Irv's DX and established Throndson Oil Company. Irv operated the company until his retirement in 1986. However, he continued to serve customers well past his official retirement date. Irv was a member of the Good Shepherd Cluster - Holy Family Parish. He belonged to The Catholic Order of Foresters and served as a New Hampton volunteer firefighter. Irv is survived by his children Lynn (Jane) Throndson of New Hampton, Larry (Darlene) Throndson of New Hampton, Chris Throndson of Fredericksburg, Allen Throndson of Riverdale, UT, Shirley (Ed) Hoffman of Ionia, Betty Throndson (Judy Bachman) of Phoenix, AZ, Tim (Joann) Throndson of Raleigh, NC, Paul (Linda) Throndson of Youngsville, LA, Annette (Bill) Webb of Hampton, VA, Theresa Williams of Waco, TX, Pamela (Jeff) Novotny of Shell Rock, Angela (Gerard) Glaser of New Hampton, Jennifer (Rodney) Knutson of New Hampton; his sisters Bernice Cutsforth of Fredericksburg, Ardes King of Lawler, Helen (Jack) Whalen of Lawler; sister-in-law Lou Ann Throndson of Lawler; his 38 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents; his wife of 63 years; daughter, Julie; son, Michael; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Danielle, Justin, Katie and Cora; brothers Clarence, Bob and Harlan; and sister Caroline in infancy. Cemetery: Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at New Hampton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Holy Family Parish Endowment Fund. Visitation will be on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at St. Joseph’s Center in the gathering space, with a rosary at 4:30 pm and a scriptural wake service at 8:00pm.
