James Hackman, age 77, of New Hampton, died on Friday, March 28, 2008 at New Hampton Nursing and Rehab Center in New Hampton. James Joseph Hackman was born on August 15, 1930 to Walter and Stacia (Weigel) Hackman on the family farm in Washington Township, Chickasaw County, Iowa.  Jim attended St. Josephs Catholic School in New Hampton.  He helped his father on the family farm before taking over the farming operation. Jim was united in marriage to Marlys Speicher on November 7, 1950 at St. Josephs Rectory in New Hampton.  He drove livestock truck for 35 years and school bus for New Hampton School District.  He retired from farming in 2000 and in 2006 Jim and Marlys moved into New Hampton.  He enjoyed playing cards, fishing and watching baseball.  Jim was a member of Holy Family Parish, St. Josephs Center in New Hampton. He is survived by his wife Marlys of New Hampton; children Michael (Linda) Hackman of Fredericksburg, Richard (Jean) Hackman of New Hampton, Mary Reicherts of Mazeppa, MN. and Mark (Dianna) Hackman of Central City, IA; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, son Kenneth and daughter Pam. Cemetery: Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at New Hampton with grandsons David Hackman, Shaun Hackman, Jacob Hackman, Matthew Hackman, Nicholas Hackman, Chad Hackman, Adam Hackman and Joshua Reicherts serving as casket bearers. Visitation: Visitation will be 4:00-8:00pm on Monday, March 31, 2008 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton with a Rosary at 5:00pm and a Scriptural Wake Service at 6:00pm and will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Holy Family Parish, St. Josephs Center in New Hampton with Msgr. Carl Schmitt celebrating mass.
