Jennifer L. Roethler, age 49, of Des Moines, IA formerly of New Hampton, IA passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Cedar Valley Hospice in Waterloo, IA with her family by her side.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Immaculate Conception Church in North Washington with Father Brian Dellaert celebrating the mass. PLEASE JOIN THE FAMILY SATURDAY at 10:30 A.M.VIA FACEBOOK LIVE ON THE CONWAY-MARKHAM FUNERAL HOMES FACEBOOK PAGE.Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in North Washington.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton with a 7:00 PM Scriptural Wake Service. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral mass on Saturday. Jennifer Lynn was born, July 19, 1971 to Joseph and Mary (Smith) Roethler in Charles City, IA. She attended and graduated from New Hampton High School. After graduating, Jennifer went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Paralegal Studies from UNI. After completing her education, Jennifer made her home in Des Moines where she worked at Rain & Hail Insurance & most recently at Wells Fargo as an Occupational Risk Analyst in the legal department.
During her time away from work, Jennifer enjoyed loving on her beloved dogs Brady & Bing, spending time with her friends, having crazy adventures (including Black Friday shopping trips with her little sister) & most of all completely spoiling her nieces & nephews whenever possible, who lovingly called her “AJ”. Nine years ago, Jennifer was diagnosed with cancer, a fight that was in every word, courageous.
Cancer may have taken time from Jennifer but it gave her a closeness with her family and friends that is simply irreplaceable. She will be deeply missed by her siblings, Michael (Dannette) Roethler of Charles City, IA and Kate (Darren) Dieterich of Cedar Falls, IA; her nieces and nephews, Megan Roethler, Drew Roethler, Brynn Roethler, Morgan Dieterich, Willie Dieterich and Adie Dieterich; numerous aunts and uncles and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary.

Building stairs to your deck…. talking all night long…. spoiling Bing…. celebrating a night out with the girls in the ER…. vacations in AZ…. never a dull moment with you. I am sorry for your loss. I remember the very first time I rode a bus when I was in 1st grade. I got on the wrong bus and Jennifer had me get off with them. They called my parents and my mom came and picked me up.
Jen was one of a kind!! She knew how to turn sterile moments into fits of giggles and could say the funniest things with a stone cold serious expression on her face. We had our employer and the love of our fur kids in common. We enjoyed telling the tales of what our silly pups were busy getting into and she always lit up with pride talking about Mr. Bing. I will hold dear the memories we have made and the giggles we have shared. Such a unique soul and the ability to take physical pain like no other human I’ve known. While she will be deeply missed by many, her fight is over, no longer in pain, and has her fur kids with her, once again. Deepest condolences to all who knew and loved her. Rest In Peace Jen
Jennifer was always a bright light when she entered a room. When my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Jennifer was there to cheer her on. She will be missed.

Bugs, Mike, I’m so very sorry for your losses this year. My heart is breaking for you both.
I got to know Jenn while working together at WF. Jenn was spunky, sweet, witty, intelligent, kind, and hilarious. I loved when she cracked jokes and showed her sarcasm, it always made me laugh. She and Cody and I always shared pics of our pets and joked around to lift each other up. Throughout the unbelievably difficult battle Jenn fought, she was amazingly strong. I admired her so much for that. She will be missed. Fly high and free without pain Jenn. See you on the other side.
My sympathies to you all. I was a high school classmate of Jennifer’s and will always remember her bright smile.
