Jerome J. Imoehl, age 88 of New Hampton, IA, died Monday, February 15, 2010 at his home. Jerome Joseph Imoehl was born on March 3, 1921 to Frank and Angela (Hageman) Imoehl on the family farm near Festina, IA. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, where he attended St. Marys Catholic School. Jerome worked for farmers in the area during his youth. He was united in marriage to Alvina Kriener on September 11, 1945 at St. Lukes Catholic Church in St. Lucas, IA, and to this union four children were born, Judy, Russell, Kevin and Juley. The couple farmed near New Hampton for thirteen years before purchasing a farm near Lourdes, IA where they farmed until retiring in 1985. They continued to live on the farm until they moved to New Hampton in 2000. Since 1991 Jerome and Alvina were able to enjoy taking their children and their families on annual week long vacations to various lake resorts though out the Midwest. Jerome enjoyed being active in the Farm Bureau, woodworking, square dancing, reading, playing cards, gardening, fishing and being active in his church. He was a member of Holy Family Parish in New Hampton. He is survived by his wife Alvina of New Hampton, daughter Judy (Dick) Taylor of New Hampton, sons Russell (Mary) Imoehl of Garner, IA and Dr. Kevin (Sue) Imoehl of Oelwein, IA and daughter Juley Imoehl of Pleasant Hill, IA, grandchildren Tamie (Steve) Feldmann, Renae (Jared) Grimes, T.J. (Karen) Taylor, Kristi (Cory) Malek, Michelle Imoehl, Melissa (Andy) Eldridge, Laura (Jeff) Rasmussen, Sandy Imoehl, and Jordan Imoehl, 11 great grandchildren, sisters Eleanora (Pete) Franzen of Ossian and Corrina Steinlage of New Hampton, brothers Ralph (Arlene) Imoehl of Tuscon, AZ, Nilus (Jenny) Imoehl of Ossian, Merlin (Anita) Imoehl of Decorah and Laverne (Lee) Imoehl of Elgin, IA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Valeria and Gordian Lensing, brother-in-law Leo Steinlage, and nephew Allen Imoehl and Leroy Lensing. Cemetery: Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Glenda Ross, Clyde Franzen, Duane Imoehl,Leroy Imoehl, Douglas Feldmann and Eric Feldmann serving as casket bearers. Visitation: Visitation will be 3:00 -8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 17 with a rosary at 4:00 PM and a scriptural wake service at 6:00 PM at the St. Josephs Gathering Center in New Hampton. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to services. For information regarding services call 641-394-4331. Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Holy Family Parish St. Josephs Center in New Hampton with Msgr. Carl Schmitt celebrating. Lectors for the service will be T.J. Taylor and Jordan Imoehl. The gift bearers will be Kristi Malek, Renae Grimes, Michelle Imoehl, and Sandy Imoehl. Eucharstic ministers will include Dick and Judy Taylor, Sue Imoehl, Russ Imoehl, and Tamie Feldmann.
