Rebecca Marion Shannon-Draper, age 29 of Elma, Iowa joined Jesus on February 24, 2022, surrounded by her family at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. There will be a Celebration of Life held at 102 High Street, Elma, IA on Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 1:00-3:00 PM. Online condolences may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com. Memorials may be directed to the family. Rebecca was born September 26, 1992 in Peoria, Illinois to Kaye Shannon (Dodgeville, WI) and Paul Draper (Peoria, IL). Rebecca attended Riceville Community School in Riceville, IA. Later, she attended Kaplan University in Mason City, Iowa. Rebecca took courses to become a medical assistant and graduated on the Dean’s list. She worked at Colonial Manor, Mercy Clinic, Kmart Pharmacy, Hy-Vee Pharmacy and Kwik Star. From an early age Rebecca loved to write poetry. Several of her poems had been published in newspapers. Her poem “Dreamer” was published in “The Book of Poems”. Rebecca also enjoyed gardening and cooking. She preferred going barefoot over wearing shoes. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Rebecca was known for her sassy and sarcastic sense of humor and her heart of gold. Rebecca always said that the two greatest accomplishments in her life were her two children, Clara and Connor. Both of whom she loved with all her heart. Those left to cherish Rebecca’s memory are her two children, Clara and Connor, Dodgeville WI; her parents, Kaye Shannon of Dodgeville WI; Paul (Marcia) Draper, Peoria IL; and five brothers; Casey (Tasha) Draper, Centerville IA; Brian (Erin) Roske, Waterloo WI; Justin (Kellie) Roske, Mt. Horeb WI; Adam (Kim) Roske, Smithville MO; Paul (Breanna) Draper, Canton IL. She is also survived by her Uncle Mark (Deb) Shannon, Charles City IA; Aunt Barbie (David) Doucette, New Hampton IA; Aunt Susan (Jerry) Haar, Elma IA; and Fiance Karl Block, Elma IA. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Rebecca is preceded in death by her grandparents, Lee and Marion Shannon and her Aunt Patti Friedhoff.
