Vera Mae Bueckmann

Vera Bueckmann, age 85 of Elma, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Colonial Manor in Elma, Iowa.
Funeral services for Vera will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 17, 2017 at St. Pauls’ Maple Leaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Dan Christensen officiating. Vera’s family may be greeted from 11:00-1:00 PM at the church on Friday. Burial will be held at St. Paul’s Maple Leaf Cemetery. Memorials are directed to the family.
Vera was born on May 13, 1931 on a farm near Riceville, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Viola (Worple) Lubbert. She was baptized in St. Peter Lutheran Church in Elma, Iowa and confirmed at St. Paul’s Maple Leaf Lutheran Church. At the age of two, Vera lost her mother and lived in the Acme area with her father until he was re-married to Irene McDaniel. They moved to a farm between Saratoga and Davis Corners until Emil was hurt in a cornpicker accident. The family then moved to Saratoga. Vera was a 1949 graduate of Riceville High School. She worked at Osage Knitting Mill and for the Auditor’s office in Sioux Falls, Sd before returning home to marry Clarence Bueckmann on August 15, 1951 at St. Paul’s Maple Leaf Lutheran Church. The couple had one son, Chris who was born on December 22, 1962. The family lived on the same farm all their married life. Vera lost the love of her life after his third heart attack on May 22, 1989. After Clarence’s death, Vera remained on the farm with her son, Chris. She was proud to be a homemaker and helped on the farm all her life.
Vera was always happy with the simple things, never asking for much. She had a strong faith in the Lord and was involved in her church, and spent many years cleaning it. She enjoyed reading a good book or her bible and truly enjoyed being in her home. Vera had a green thumb with plants and loved spending time cooking and baking various dishes, which always tasted good.
Vera is survived by her son, Chris Bueckmann of Elma, Iowa; her sisters, LaVonne Moses of Riceville, Iowa and Mayzie Seehase of Waterloo, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence in 1989; infant son, Rudy in 1953; two brothers-in-law, Richard Johnston, Sam Reis and Floyd Moses; her sisters-in-law, Isabel Johann and Mabel Reis.

My dearest Cousin Chris, I am so sorry to hear of your mothers passing. I am so sorry this message is late. I am just now hearing the sad news. 🙁 You mother was a PEACH. I remember her always cooking and laughing. He made the best food. I loved the smell of fresh bread and the taste of REAL BUTTER always on your table.
