Alan J. Franzen, age 53 of New Hampton died Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at New Hampton Nursing and Rehab. Alan Joseph Franzen was born on March 18, 1959 to Clarence and Valeria (Berst) Franzen in New Hampton. He attended St. Joseph’s school and graduated from New Hampton High School in 1977. Alan worked in lawn care and worked with several friends on the ICE railroad. Alan was an avid Cardinal baseball fan. He enjoyed music, gardening and was a railroad buff. But Alan especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog, Sparky. He was a member of Holy Family Parish – St. Joseph’s Center in New Hampton. Alan is survived by his mother, Valeria Franzen of New Hampton; his sisters, Kathryn and Rebecca, both of New Hampton; his brothers, Kenneth and Steven (Jo) Franzen, also of New Hampton; one niece, Amanda Franzen of Mason City and special aunt, Theresa Berst of New Hampton. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence. Cemetery: Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in New Hampton. Memorials may be directed to the family. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm, Friday, October 12, 2012 at St. Joseph’s gathering space in New Hampton. There will be a 4:30pm rosary and a 7:00pm Scriptural wake Service. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral mass on Saturday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am, Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Holy Family Parish – St. Joseph’s Center with Father Mark Osterhaus celebrating.

    You are in my thoughts and prayers. Al was a good guy. Not to bring this up but Bob’s 50th birthday was the same day of his passing. I’m sure they all reunited and had a heck of a good time.. God bless
