Alice A. Peterson, age 95, of Apple Valley, MN, formerly of Elma, IA died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Augustana Health Center in Apple Valley. Alice Annabell Peterson was born on October 1, 1915 to William and Bessie (Louks) Schultz in Pharr, Texas. She attended school in Pharr until she was 15 years old at which time she moved with her family to the family farm in Gilman, IA and graduated from Ferguson High School in Ferguson, IA in 1932. Alice then attended Marshalltown Business College and worked until her marriage to Kenneth Peterson on August 27, 1940 in Marshalltown, IA. The couple farmed in various parts of Iowa until they retired to Elma in 1972. She worked for the Elma Veterinary Office for several years. In 2005 Alice moved to Minnesota to be with her daughters. Her passion was gardening. Alice also enjoyed needle work, reading and her family. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star. Alice is survived by her children, Kenneth Peterson, Jr. of Ankeny, IA, Lois McKeag of Vadnais Heights, MN and Betty Post of Apple Valley, MN; her sisters, Clara Alexander of Marshalltown, IA and Inez Alexander of Elizabeth City, NC; seven grandchildren, David (Kathy) McKeag, Daniel (Annette) McKeag, Scott (Reta) Post, Mary Peterson, Maggie Peterson, Jason (Tara) Post and Amanda Peterson; one daughter-in-law, Charlotte Peterson of Mason City, IA and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Kenneth on July 24, 1987; one son, Alvin; one granddaughter, Christine Peterson; five siblings, Elmer, Grace, Marvin, Irene and Leonard; one daughter-in-law, Joan Peterson and one son-in-law, Glenn McKeag. Memorials: Memorials may be directed to the Elma Library. Cemetery: Burial will be in Howard Cemetery at Elma. Visitation: Visitation will be from 1:00–2:00pm on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Conway-Markham Funeral Chapel in Elma. Service: Funeral services for Alice will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Conway-Markham Funeral Chapel in Elma with Reverend Pam Kranzler officiating.
