Arlene Heying, age 89, of New Hampton, IA passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Mercy One in New Hampton. Arlene Helen Heying was born on October 25, 1929 to Victor and Rose (Gebel) Schwickerath near New Hampton, IA. Arlene attended St. Mary’s School in North Washington, IA. In 1942 Arlene moved to the Alta Vista area with her parents and helped on the farm until her marriage to Francis (Mike) Heying on January 20, 1948 at St. Bernard’s Church in Alta Vista. Mike and Arlene moved to Gratiot, WI and farmed there for seven years. They moved back to the Alta Vista area and farmed until their retirement in 1988 and moved to Alta Vista. Arlene enjoyed helping on the farm and cooking, making pies and cookies. Arlene was a member of Holy Family Parish in New Hampton and the Holy Family Rosary Society. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and playing cards with family and friends. Arlene’s greatest joy was being with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arlene is survived by her children: Roger (Irene) Heying of Harpers Ferry, IA, Shari (Dale) Blocker of Ionia, IA, Larry (Cindy) Heying of New Hampton, Greg (Nancy) Heying of New Hampton, Ken (Luann) Heying of New Hampton, Randy (Jenn) Heying of New Hampton, Don (Jackie) Heying of Rochester, MN, and Michael (Dawn) Heying of New Hampton; 24 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; brother Clair (Tina) Schwickerath of Maryland; sister Doris (Sylvester) Mrachek of Cresco, IA; sister-in-law Marlene Schwickerath of Charles City, IA; and many nieces and nephews. Arlene is preceded in death by her parents Victor and Rose Schwickerath; husband Francis "Mike" Heying, son Edward; and daughter LuAnn; brothers Earl and LaVern Schwickerath; sisters Ellen Wiest and Mildred Webber.

  1. Our prayers and sympathy to all of the Heying families. Arlene was a friend of my family since I was a little girl. She was a very pleasant lady and we will miss seeing her at Saturday night Masses . Now she is with Francis in the Heavenly Kingdom. May she rest in peace .
