Barbara A. Markham, age 70, of Osage, IA passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage surrounded by her family. Barbara Ann Markham was born February 7, 1941 to Glenn and Shirley (Duenow) Markham on a farm near Osage, IA. She attended Osage Public Schools and graduated from Osage Community High School in 1960. Barb was kind and caring to everyone she met. She loved music, dancing, playing piano and listening to her favorite singer, Elvis Presley. She greatly enjoyed visiting with family, friends and even strangers, who quickly became friends. She was the unofficial greeter at Faith Home where she resided. She will be greatly missed by many. Barb is survived by her mother, Shirley Markham of Osage; her sisters, Janice (John) Dempsey of Osage, Joan Blake of St. Ansgar and Patricia (Roger) Karau of Elko, MN; her brothers, Ronald (Kristine) Markham of New Hampton, IA, Richard (Marge) Markham of Osage, Robert (Kate) Markham of Lakeside, CA and Keith (Jessica) Markham of Gig Harbor, WA; one sister-in-law, Dolly Markham of Albuquerque, NM and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Markham; her brother, William; her niece, Carol Shannon; her brothers-in-law, Tom Blake and Dean Penney and her maternal and paternal grandparents. The family would like to thank Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home for assisting Conway-Markham Funeral with arrangements. Cemetery: A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, IA. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, IA with Father Jack McClure celebrating the mass. Casket Bearers will be Mark Dempsey, Chris Markham, Mike Muller, Larry Muller, Scott Karau, Jared Markham, Adam Markham, Daniel Markham, and Joe Markham.

  7. My cousin, Barb, was always so friendly to me and so many others at family reunions in Osage and St. Ansgar, and in the Markham family home. She had a great smile, and a personality that made people feel comfortable.

  12. Hello, I am sorry to hear about your loss. We were next store neighbors and I saw Barb a lot. Barb took care of us when we were children. Barb was the best baby-sitter we every had! Barb had a pure heart and that is what I loved about her. She was a great friend. God Bless your family.
