Daniel Peters, age 50, of New Hampton, IA died Monday, May 16, 2011 at Covenant Hospital in Waterloo, IA. Daniel Raymond Peters was born on May 23, 1960, the son of Harold and Norma (Hovey) Peters in New Hampton. Daniel attended school in New Hampton. While in high school, Daniel was involved in a car accident which left him a quadriplegic. His parents have been his caregivers at their home in New Hampton since this accident. Daniel enjoyed playing cards with his card buddies, surfing the web, playing games and Facebook, as well as, car trips out of town, going to the casino and having his family around him. “Danny is now free to do the things he was not able to do since his accident.” “Danny Ray, you were and always will be our Ray of Sunshine!” Danny is survived by his parents, Harold and Norma Peters of New Hampton, his sisters, Gloria Fox and Cathy (Rod) Janssen, both of Dumont, IA; his brother Harlan (Wendy) Peters of New Hampton; nieces and nephews, Travis (Kandy) Fox of Ionia, IA, Mick Kulish of Nora Springs, IA, Nicole (Bob) Whitney of Dumont, Keith Janssen of Dumont, Teresa (Corey) Campbell of Coulter, IA, Trisha Fox of Dumont and Mandie Nelson of New Hampton and 14 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and two nieces, Michelle Kulish and Tina Fox. Memorials: Memorials may be directed to the family. Cemetery: Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at New Hampton. Visitation: Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton, and will continue at the church one hour prior to the service. Service: Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph’s Center in New Hampton with Father Mark Osterhaus celebrating.

  1. Norma, Harold and family, we are so sorry for your loss. We have fond memories of Danny. Now he can do all the things he missed out on for so many years. As it says in the book ” Heaven is Real” everyone is healthy and young in heaven, I know he is in a good place and has no more pain. Every day from now on is a happy and healthy day for him.   5. I am very sorry to learn of the loss of Danny. I know he iwll be dearly missed by all who knew him. It will be so nice when Danny is resurrected back to life and will once again be able to enjoy the love of his family and friends and able to run and walk as he used to!
