David Loes

David Loes, age 64, of New Hampton, died on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the New Hampton Care Center in New Hampton. David Francis Loes was born June 28, 1946 to Leo and Eileen (Hoffman) Loes in New Hampton, IA. He was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church where he was baptized. David worked for Comp Systems in Charles City, IA for 18 years. He was then employed at the Treasure Chest in New Hampton for five years before he retired. David was a resident at Heritage Residence in New Hampton for 18 years, and New Hampton Care Center for one and a half years. He enjoyed playing cards, Iowa Hawkeye football, and especially spending time with his family and friends. David loved his work. David is survived by one brother, John (Mary) Loes and one sister Jeanne (Cyrus) Freidhof, both of Alta Vista, IA, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother James and his wife Romola Loes; his sister Lois and her husband Wayne Robinson; his great-nephew Jason Loes and great-niece Bridget Loes.

Memorials may be directed to Iowa Hospice and Camp Courageous.
Cemetery:
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Alta Vista.
Visitation:
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, April 11, 2011 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in Elma, IA, with a 5:00 pm rosary and a 6:00 pm scriptural wake service. Visitation will continue at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Service:
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Alta Vista, IA with Msgr. John Hemann celebrating.

My sympathy to the Loes family. David was always one of my favorite people. He always brought a smile to my face and made my day. I have great memories as I am sure you do as well.

Our deepest feelings go out to all of you. I was shocked to her of his passing. He was so kind and always caring, but more then that his was always loving…. no matter what. I am sorry for the loss, but Alta Vista lost more then that….and that will say alot…..he was someone whom you will always remember in time. I loved him for what he was. To the family, my love for David always gave more love to you then he could hold in. He loved life and life loved him. So sorry but he will be REMEMERED!!!!
I’m sorry to hear of David’s death. I recall years ago David sometimes coming along with his mom “the Avon lady” to our house. He was at St. Williams the years me and my twin sister were there.
My husband and I would like to convey our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of your beloved David. We would like to share with you something that has brought us much comfort at a similar time in our lives. John 11:14-44 shares with us the experience of Jesus resurrecting Lazarus here on earth before the very eyes of those he loved. We can only imagine the tears of joy when we too are reunited with our dear loved ones. (John 5:28,29) David will surely be missed by many of those who’s lives he shared, remember the experiences you shared together and learn from them, hold them close to your heart and cherish them. My name is Billie and I used to work in the kitchen at the Care Center. I used to love serving Davey and joking with him. He always brightened my day. I am very sorry for the family’s loss. Rest in peace Davey. You will be missed.
