Dennis M. Meyer, age 72 passed away on Saturday, January 06, 2018 at Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco, Iowa with family by his side. Per Dennis’ wishes there will be a private family burial at a later date. Online condolences for his family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com. Memorials may be directed to the family. Dennis Melvin Meyer was born on April 14, 1945 to Melvin and Velva (Linke) Meyer in Osage, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Charles City High School in 1963. After graduating he began working for Heckman Road Construction running heavy equipment. Dennis was united in marriage to Wanda DeVries on February 16, 1963 at United Methodist Church in Elma, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Melony and Monty. They made their home at Colwell, IA until 1968 when they moved to Elma where they’ve lived ever since. He then worked at Easterly Implement as a mechanic in Colwell for 17 years prior to working for McNeilus until his retirement in 2012. Dennis enjoyed visiting with friends and family, working with heavy equipment, landscaping, tinkering in his garage and long drives in the country. Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Meyer of Elma; his son, Monty (Deb) Meyer of Mantorville, MN; his grandchildren, Joshua (Andrea) Smith of Elma; Mandy (Matt) Smith-Kellogg of New Hampton, IA, Mitchel Smith of Elma, IA, Jamie Sue Smith of Lawler, Rebecca Meyer and Zachary Meyer, both of Mantorville, MN; his great-grandchildren, Kaden, Rylan, Gavin, Logan, Stella, Ava and Kiera; his siblings, Sandra (Larry) Coen of Charles City, IA and Dana Meyer also of Charles City and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Melony Smith; son-in-law, Mike Smith; sister, Linda Krall and his brother, Jan Meyer.

  6. Wanda and Family, I can still see Dennis going up and down the street with his skid loader. He was a very nice and sweet guy, willing to help others when needed. We all at the United Methodist church give the family our deepest sympathy and prayers.
