Donald “Don” was born September 15, 1944, the surprise twin to his brother David and son of Cornelius and Lela (Nafus) Miller in Riceville, IA. Don attended and graduated from Riceville High School. After graduating Don and David enlisted in the United States Army where they served their country in Germany. Upon their honorable discharge, the pair enrolled at NIACC. Don worked for Swift and Company before attending trade school in Minnesota where he received his degree in refrigeration. He and David began working for Winnebago. It was only a few years before Don and David began their lifelong career in team trucking for local trucking companies and over-the-road long haul companies. They retired from long haul trucking in 2007. But that didn’t keep Don or David out of the trucks for very long. It wasn’t until Don’s health began to decline in 2016 that they hung their keys up. David took care of Don until November 2020 when he entered the nursing home. Rarely spending time apart, the pair enjoyed singing and playing karaoke with sister, Della and her husband, Neldon. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.
Those left to cherish Don’s memory are his twin brother, David; sister, Della (Neldon) Swancutt and brother, Tom (Sue) Miller all of Elma; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Sending my love to everyone and my deepest sympathy!
