He attended and graduated in 1962 from Rockwell High School, Rockwell, Iowa. Donald married Patty in 1964 and they later divorced. They lived in Mason City and then move to Russell, Iowa where he managed the Big Bear Store. His parents bought a farm near Elma, Iowa in 1971. His father got sick so Donald moved his family in 1972 to help care for his father and help with farming. He worked at John Deere, Sara Lee, and A to Z drying until he retired at the age of 72. Shortly after his retirement he became sick with diabetes and lived with his daughter Tricia and family for 4 years. Donald then moved to Riceville Family Care Center where his daughter, Tricia was able to see him every day since she worked at the care center. He loved to pick on the nursing aids. Donald enjoyed his red tractors. He loved being at the farm and we had a hard time some days keeping him in town…so not to get into trouble. Donald also loved picking on our cats. He had his own cat at home called Pinky. He had a great laugh and loved to say oh you cotton picker. He loved to pick on his grandchildren when he saw them. He liked telling jokes. Donald is survived by his children, Christy (Randy) Boehmer of Alta Vista, IA, Jackie Edgar of Elma, IA, Tricia (Corey) Steere of Elma, IA; Grandchildren, Brittany Steere, Nikki Sprung, Corrine Steere, Ashley Vorwald, Aubrey Vorwald, Austin Edgar, Carissa Boehmer, Allison Boehmer and Sage Boehmer; great grandchildren, Jaxon, Brielle, Clayton, Tylor, Avery, Declan, Oakland.
