Dorothy M. Moetsch, age 83 of New Hampton, IA passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Dorothy Mae Sisson was born on May 24, 1931 to Ray and Doris (Manning) Sisson in New Hampton, IA. She graduated from New Hampton High School in 1949. Dorothy was employed at Security State Bank of New Hampton. On June 16, 1957, Dorothy was united in marriage to Wayne Moetsch at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton, where the couple made their home. It was in New Hampton they raised their three daughters. Dorothy was very active in the church and volunteered in her community, especially for the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, Red Cross and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to cook and bake, swimming, playing bridge and socializing at the gathering of the Loafers. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Wayne Moetsch of New Hampton; her daughters, Ann (Dale) Knight of Iowa Falls, IA, Ellen Moetsch of Rochester, MN and Merrilyn (Thor) Berg of Austin, MN; her grandchildren, Megan (Brian) Conway of West Des Moines, IA, Casey and Collin Berg, both of Austin, MN; her great-grandson, Vincent Conway of West Des Moines, IA and one sister-in-law, Jean Sisson of Saugus, CA
.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Jeri Sue in infancy and her brother, Bill Sisson.

My deepest sympathy to Dorothys family, I was shocked to see that Dorothy passed away when I went on Conway-Markham site. I first met Dorothy when we joined the church so many years ago.She was so nice and helped me with anything I needed to know back then. Also used to visit at the pool in the summertime during the adult times at noonhour. Whereever I would see her she always had her friendly smile and Hi Linda. She certainly will be missed. My sympathy to all your family, Wayne. I considered Dorothy a friend and enjoyed our conversations. She was an interesting woman. I remember especially the days spent at the pool and talking gardening and canning. Keep sharing her stories with your family and friends.

Dorothy was a ray of sunshine! She always greeted us in church or whenever we crossed paths in town or at a sporting event. This was a special lady whose spirit lighted up the room! We will are so blessed to have known this wonderful person and will sure miss this precious lady…a true Gift from God! Please accept our sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one. This is one of the most difficult things we must face in our life. May it comfort you to know that others are deeply touched by your loss. God assures us at Psalms 34:18 that he is near to those broken in heart and those crushed in spirit he saves. Jesus also promises that we will be able to see our loved ones again. Jesus own words found at John 5:28,29 tells us there will be a resurrection. What a wonderful hope! God says that soon on the earth there will be no more pain, suffering and especially death at Revelation 21:3-5 We anxiously await the day when we will no longer lose those we love.
