Edith A. Lenehan, age 58, of New Hampton, IA, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at her home with her loving family by her side. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 9th from 9:00 – 11:00am with the Funeral Service beginning immediately following the visitation at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma, IA. Edith Ann Oelberg was born on October 9, 1962 in New Hampton, IA to Dr. Christian and Arlene (Anderson) Oelberg. Edith attended Elma Elementary School, and graduated from Crestwood High School in 1981. She attended Iowa State University, graduating in 1985 with her Bachelors (BS) in Journalism. Edith moved to Boston, MA to begin her career as a journalist for a newspaper. Seven years later, she moved to Minneapolis, MN where she was a technical writer for American Express. It is during this time she met and began a long-distance relationship with Roger Lenehan. Edith was united in marriage to Roger on February 14, 1998 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Lourdes, IA. They made their home on the Lenehan family farm near New Hampton, Iowa. A year later, the couple was gifted with a beautiful daughter, Nadine. Edith was employed at IBM in Rochester, MN as a Technical Writer for the past 22 years, retiring this past fall of 2019. Edith enjoyed the great outdoors, especially kayaking, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Edith made being active look easy. She coordinated countless community and church events, along with extensive volunteering all while working full-time, and being a highly dedicated wife, mom and daughter to those she loved most. She was a Girl Scout Leader, and a life-long member of the Elma United Methodist Church, where she filled many key roles. Edith found great joy as a member of the Eastern Star where she was Grand Adah. Edith is survived by her mother, Arlene Oelberg of Elma., IA; her husband, Roger of New Hampton, IA; daughter, Nadine Lenehan (fiancé Jerod Westemeier) of New Hampton, IA; sister, Karen Karim of Elma, IA; brother, Jim Oelberg of Clinton, IA, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Dr. Christian E. Oelberg, and an infant nephew, Aslam Karim.

  8. I met Edith when I worked at IBM for two years and we struck up a friendship that I have cherished ever since. She was a wonderful friend who had such a generous soul. I have since moved back to Canada and was so grateful to have met up with her when I returned to Rochester a handful of times before the pandemic. I will miss all the times that we hung out, chatted, and laughed ourselves silly. She was my favourite travel companion and dear friend. May you rest easy, Edith. My thoughts and love to Roger and Nadine.

  11. Roger and Nadine, I am so sorry to hear about Edith. So many of my memories growing up have her in them… And most of them include so much laughter. We took journalism in high school together and were co editors of the school newspaper. She was incredible and loved every minute of it.
