Evelyn Roethler, age 76 of Charles City, IA formerly of Elma, IA died on Monday, March 9, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, IA. Evelyn Lucille Roethler was born on May 17, 1932 to Harry and Martha (Paisley) Lockey in Iowa Falls, IA. She grew up in Nashua, IA where she attended school. Evelyn was united in marriage to Kenneth Roethler on June 17, 1950 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple moved to Elma in 1967 where they farmed. Evelyn worked for Conways Grocery for several years before becoming employed by Sara Lee in New Hampton until retirement in 1988. Evelyn has lived in Charles City for the last 17 years. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting and putting jig saw puzzles together. Evelyn was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Charles City, IA. Evelyn is survived by her three children Dale (Tina) Roethler of Alta Vista, IA, Randy (Mary) Roethler of Elma, IA, and Debra (Jim Halverson) Roethler of Cresco, IA, six grandchildren Brian (Melissa), Adam (Christy), Leon (Tina), Kenny(Stacy), Jeremy (Amy) Roethler, and Jennifer (Michael) Schultshik; seven great grandchildren; three sisters Bernie Michael of Charles City, IA, Martha Simerson of Hartford, IA, Arvana Boyd of Charles City, IA; three brothers Clifford (Faith) Lockey of Bassett, IA, Dale (Joyce) Lockey of Swan, IA, and Don Lockey of Sarasota, FL; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kenneth on January 22, 2004; great granddaughter Kayla; one sister Eleanor Klinkel; one brother Lowell Lockey; four brothers-in-law Cecil Michael, Forrest Simerson, Clarence Boyd, and James Klinkel; one sister-in-law Ginny Lockey. Cemetery: Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Elma, IA with Brian, Adam, Leon, Kenny, Jeremy Roethler, and Michael Schultschik serving as casket bearers. Visitation: Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 13, 2009 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in Elma with a 4:30pm Rosary and a scriptural wake service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home on Saturday. Service: Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Elma, IA with Father Ray Atwood as celebrant.
