Geraldine Huffman, age 91 of New Hope, MN formerly of New Hampton, IA died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at St. Therese Home in New Hope. Geraldine Lillian Huffman was born March 5, 1921 to August and Helen (Wilson) Kahn in New Hampton. She attended Richland #1 country school near Williamstown. After schooling, Gerry was united in marriage to Willis Huffman on April 13, 1940 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. The couple resided in Nashua for two years then moved to Minneapolis in 1942. They returned to Nashua in 1943 and lived on Willis’s father’s farm where they would farm for the next five years. The couple then purchased a farm southwest of New Hampton near Williamstown. This is where the couple would make their home until their retirement in 1972 when they moved to New Hampton. Gerry was an avid Red Wing Crock collector and enjoyed antiquing. She was a member of Williamstown United Methodist Church, a lifelong member of the United Methodist Women and President for 20 years, a 4H leader of the DNR Clover Leaf for 14 years, a longtime member of the Wapsi Valley Study Club and a charter member of the Chickasaw County Genealogy Society. Gerry is survived by her daughter Diana (Larry) Hirsch of Anoka, MN; her grandchildren, Tory Hirsch & Tracy (Derek) Kohner; three great-grandsons; her sister, Norma Nissen of Camanche, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willis on April 2, 1992; her daughter, Linda Hagedorn in 1966; one son-in-law, Clinton Hagedorn and one sister, Gwen Douglas. Cemetery: Burial will be in New Hampton Cemetery at New Hampton. Memorials may be directed to the family. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm on Friday, September 14, 2012 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral Home. Funeral Services for Geraldine will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton with Pastor Kevin Frey officiating.
