Harold H. Schuchhardt, age 67 of Alta Vista, IA passed away on Monday, December 14, 2015 at Colonial Manor in Elma, IA. Harold Herman Schuchhardt was born on July 28, 1948 to Walter and Leanor (Drewelow) Schuchhardt in New Hampton, IA. He attended country school and then New Hampton Schools. At the age of 19, Harold was involved in car accident leaving him paralyzed. He then resided in Alta Vista with his parents. Harold enjoyed playing pool, coached Little League, fishing, playing cards and especially spending time with his family. Harold is survived by his siblings, Betty (Richard) Venem of Jesup, IA, Charles (Valera) Schuchhardt of Unionville, MO, Larry (Sarah) Schuchhardt of Garner, IA, Richard (Sharon) Schuchhardt of New Hampton and Norman Schuchhardt of Cresco, IA and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Violet; two nephews, Curtis and Ricky and great-nephew, Austin.

  2. To the family of Harold, At least he waited to leave this world on a Monday. He probably knew it was a usual Borderline pool night so he left us with a great memory. I so enjoyed him on those nights and taking him to pool tournaments in Quaskie with Gordie. He was a great guy to know. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

  4. Harold was the greatest uncle anyone could ask for…! He is the one that introduced my husband a friend of Harold’s to me. Almost 14 yrs ago….we have been married for 12 yrs now. Thanks to Harry we have 2 beautiful active kids that are also proud to call him their Great Uncle Harold. Harold now is walking around as a handsome 19 yr old self. Love you very much. Miss you for the rest of my life. Until I see you again ….Rest in peace. Love your niece, Heather

  5. I knew Harold when he could walk and when he could not. It did not change him. His determination was inspiring. I always enjoyed his smile and laugh. He’ll fit right in with Curt, Ricky and Austin and heaven is rocking now!

  6. I loved Harry. He was a great man, a great friend and a blessing to the numerous lives he touched. He was an inspiration to me, always caring and willing to listen. I am a better person to have gotten to spend as much time with him as I did. RIP Harry.

You sheltered me, gave me a shoulder to cry on and stood behind me , no matter what path in life I took. You have a special place in my heart that no one could ever take away for without you I wouldn’t be the person I am today.   14. Harold taught me many of card games……and always would have a ear when anyone needed it to vent or were going through tough times…..most recently we would see him during avdays and he would always speak and always talk to our little girl. RIP harold……..keep playing them card games 🙂
