Helen Jane Orr, age 67, of New Hampton IA, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton. Helen Jane Orr was born on November 2, 1944 to Walter and Evelyn (Doyle) Haugen in Alta Vista, IA. Helen attended and graduated from St. William’s School in Alta Vista in 1962. She attended Young’s School of Cosmetology in Waterloo. Helen worked as a beautician for 45 years. She owned and operated The Image Salon in New Hampton for 30 years before retiring in 2008. Helen enjoyed golfing, playing cards, traveling, gardening and especially visiting her children in Texas. She was a member of Holy Family Parish – St. Joseph’s Center. Helen is survived by her husband, Steven Orr of New Hampton; her children, Michael (Tina) Orr and Amy (Kevin) Mullis, both of Flower Mound, TX; her sister Margaret Grober of Seneca, IL and her grandchildren, Kyle Orr, Ryan Orr and Cole Mullis, including her step-granddaughter, Mikaila Lapinski. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Diane Abbas and brother, Clarence Haugen. Cemetery: Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Helen's family. Friends may greet the family from 3:00-6:00pm on Friday, October 5, 2012 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00pm, Friday, October 5, 2012 at Conway-Markham Funeral Chapel in New Hampton with Msgr. Carl Schmitt officiating.

  15. I am very sorry for your loss. I am a cousin of Helens on her Mothers side and we went to school in AV together and were best friends during high school. She was a wonderful person and I am so glad that I got to talk with
    her at the last All school reunion in AV. She will be thought of and a prayer will be sent with her. Margaret please e-mail me. We must stay in touch.
