Ivan B. Schroeder, age 91, of Elma, IA passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Stacyville Community Nursing Home in Stacyville, IA. Ivan B. Schroeder was born on November 26, 1923 to Aloysius and Johanna (Pille) Schroeder on a farm near Arcadia, IA. He attended school at Saint John’s Catholic School and graduated from the eighth grade. He then attended Arcadia High School graduating in 1941. He remained at home working on the Schroeder Dairy Farm. On May, 21 1946, he was united in marriage to Alma Koster at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Breda, IA. In 1947, they moved to Wall Lake and started farming. Then in 1949, they moved to Clarion and farmed for nine years. Ivan and Alma moved to their farm in 1958 where they still reside. Ivan enjoyed farming all of his life and traveling. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Elma. Ivan is survived by his wife of 68 years, Alma Schroeder of Elma; his children, Thomas (Barbara) Schroeder of Elma, Dean (Nancy) Schroeder of Iowa Falls, IA, Loran (Betsy) Schroeder of Albert Lea, MN, Michael Schroeder of Elma, Sandra Schroeder of Elk City, OK, Ronald (Joan) Schroeder of West Union, IA, Ramona (Gary) Kazynski of Shawano, WI, David Schroeder of Elma, Diane Schroeder of Elma and Debra Loftus of Westside, IA; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley (Bob) Wolterman of Arizona; one brother, Vincent Schroeder of Carroll, IA; sister-in-law Lois Schroeder of Omaha, NE and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and two brothers.
