James L Acker

James L. Acker, age 70, of Elma, IA passed away on Tuesday, August 3 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Riverside Cemetery in Riceville, IA. There will be a 2 hour visitation at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma prior to the graveside service on Tuesday. Military honors will be provided by Elma American Legion Post #597. Online condolences may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com. Memorials may be directed to the family. James “Jim” Lavern was born on December 13, 1950, the son of Velma (Worple) Acker in Elma, IA. After completing his education, Jim enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served his country until his honorable discharge. Upon his return home, Jim worked for the city of Elma until his retirement. Jim is survived by his children, Heather Bell of Buffalo Center and Chad Bell; his brother, Gary Acker of Kansas, his three grandchildren and nieces and nephews as well as close friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Velma.
