James Louis Gebel, age 64, of New Hampton, IA died on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, IA. James Louis Gebel was born on March 3, 1948 to Louis and Tillie (Koudelka) Gebel in New Hampton, IA. He attended Utica #4 Country School until 6th grade and graduated from New Hampton High School in 1967. He then worked for Hillandale Farms until 2012 when he retired. Jim was united in marriage to Rose Schamber on August 17, 1974 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Hampton. Jim enjoyed music, NASCAR, playing with his grandson, his dog Toby and enjoying his family. Jim is survived by his wife Rose of New Hampton; son Tim Gebel of New Hampton; grandson Austin Gebel of New Hampton; sister Shirley Gebel of Lawler, IA; sisters-in-law Margaret (Larry) Riha, Fort Atkinson, IA, Kathy Schamber of New Hampton, Helen (Dan) Marion of Milan, IL; nephew Cody Marion of Los Angeles, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Tillie Gebel. Cemetery: Burial will be in New Hampton Cemetery at New Hampton, IA with Andy Meyer, Steve Franzen, Neal Johnson, Joe Rosonke, Larry Brown and Cody Marion serving as casket bearers. Memorials may be directed to the family. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00pm on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton with a scriptural wake service at 7:30pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be 10:30am on Monday, October 15, 2012 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home Chapel in New Hampton, IA with Father Mark Osterhaus officiating.
