Jeanne Ann Swenumson
July 13, 1939 ~ March 4, 2015
Jeanne Ann Swenumson, age 75 of Ionia, IA, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 4, 2015.
Jeanne Ann was born on July 13, 1939 to Frank and Irene (Hackman) Schmidt in New Hampton, IA. She attended and was a 1958 graduate of New Hampton High School. Jeanne was united in marriage to David Swenumson on June 1, 1958 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Hampton. The couple made their home on a farm in rural Ionia and later moved into Ionia where they raised their two daughters, Cindy and Donna. Jeanne was a homemaker until 1975 when she and David purchased Nashua Sand and Gravel. She was an integral part of the business and remained active until the time of her death.
Jeanne was a member of Ionia United Church of Christ. She enjoyed her flower gardens and the birds that visited it. But she cherished her time spent with her friends and family.
Jeanne is survived by her loving husband, David Swenumson of Ionia, IA; her daughters, Cindy (Larry) Shoemaker of Nashua, IA and Donna (Ted) Geerts of Ionia, IA; her grandchildren, Jason (Kristin) Shoemaker, Joshua (Kate) Schoemaker, Dylan Shoemaker, Sarah (Trevor) Baxter and Allie Geerts; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, James, Harold, Robert, Russell and Arthur.
