Lawrence M. Olson, age 99, of Vallejo, CA and formerly of New Hampton, IA died March 19, 2013 at his home in Vallejo surrounded by his family. Lawrence Melvin Olson was born on September 14, 1913 to Gunder and Lena (Johnson) Olson at Jerico, IA. He attended country school through the eighth grade. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1943 to 1945 and returned to the Jerico area where he worked for John Brannon for five years. He then moved to Cedar Rapids to work for Rockwell Collins until his retirement. Lawrence was united in marriage to Alice Kuntz on May 6, 1961 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marion, IA. The couple lived in Cedar Rapids until they returned to New Hampton in 1988. Lawrence was a member of Jerico Lutheran Church. Lawrence is survived by his son Wayne (Lisa) Olson of Vallejo, CA and several nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Gunder and Lena Olson; his wife Alice (November 30, 2011); and one sister Clara.
Cemetery:
Burial will be in Jerico Lutheran Cemetery at Jerico.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Visitation will be at Jerico Lutheran Church from 12:00-2:00pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2013.
Funeral services will be at 2:00pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Jerico Lutheran Church in Jerico, IA.
