Maurice R. Shaw

Maurice R. Shaw, age 68 of Coronado, CA, passed away on November 1, 2008, surrounded by his family. Maurice Robert Shaw was born on September 28, 1940 to Jack and Bernice Shaw in Richmond, VA. Maurice grew up on the family farm near New Hampton, IA. He graduated high school from Saint Martins, in Olympia, WA. Maurice attended college at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO where he met and married his wife Margaret Dunleavy. After graduating college they moved to California, eventually settling in Coronado, CA in 1971. Maurice began working for the Coronado Unified School District as principal of the Continuation Program. After a few years he became vice-principal of the high school. In 1987 he took the job of rebuilding the facilities for the school district. In April of 2002 Maurice retired and began his long battle with cancer.Maurice is survived by his wife of 44 years, Margaret of Coronado, CA; three sons Edward (Judy) Shaw of Irvine, CA, Michael Shaw of Sacramento, CA, and Patrick (Andrea) Shaw of Brooklyn, NY; one grandson Aidan of San Diego, CA; and one sister, Malee (Jerome) Rosonke of Aberdeen, SD.Maurice was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Bernice Shaw.

Donations in Maurice Shaws name may be made to the Sharp Hospice Foundation.
Cemetery:
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in New Hampton.
Service:
Memorial services will be held at 12:30pm on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton with Msgr. Carl Schmitt officiating.A funeral mass was held at Sacred Heart Parish in Coronado, CA on November 10, 2008.

You have our sympthay. I did now know Maurice however my parents (whom are both now gone too) Don and Eta Mai were neighbors to Berince in New Hampton. We often times went to “Bernice’s” to go fishining. I recall as a youngster Bernice talking about her children.
Know that we are thinking about you at this sad time.
