Lots of visits after I retired too and saw how difficult it was for you through those last years. My sincere condolences to each of you. Mike was a wonderful person, liked and respected by everyone all of his life. He will be missed by all of us but am sure more by each of you. Take care and God Bless all of you.

  12. Nancy and family, our sympathy to each of you. You have been a faithful caregiver for a long time. Our prayers for you as you adjust to your new lifestyle.

  13. I will always remember Mike from our days in I. C. High School. Mike always treated me very well, and it was disheartening to hear about his medical problems ib recent years. Will be keeping Mike, his immediate family, and his siblings in my thoughts and prayers.

  14. Michelle – I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I will pray for comfort for you and your family. We worked together at Hardee’s in Cedar Falls MANY years ago and I remember those days very fondly. Kris HUSS Fratzke

  15. My prayers for the family. Mike was my classmate as well as driver (he drove my brother, Charles, and sisters, Kathy and Janey) to school every morning. It was always fun to watch for the blue ford with the flames painted on the side racing thru the countryside to our house. He always slowed down when he turned on our road as my father thought he was a crazy driver. Then, we pile in his car, slowly creep up the road until we were out of sight from dad, then he would floor it to school. We’d all be laughing and having such a good time. Mike had a wonderful sense of humor and I have so many great memories of him at IC, the friends we ran around with, and the sense of belonging. I know he will be so missed.
    Carrol Riley Roy

  18. Nancy, Michelle, Neal & Chris(and families)~
Thinking of you all. Was hoping to be with you to celebrate Mike’s/your dad’s life, but Mother Nature had other plans & am sure God was keeping us safe as well. So many great memories of ‘The Navy Buddies’ and the gatherings that brought our families together. I can still see the smile and hear the laughter of Mike/your dad, after all these years. May God bless you ALL.
    ~ Love,
    Carol(Smith)Sherman and Family

  19. Please accept my sincere condolences to the Ungs family. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Michael. Seems like he was liked by a lot of people and he touched peoples lives in a positive way. The Bible assures us at Psalms 34:18 that God is near to those broken in heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May your many great memories help you find peace and comfort as you go through the coming days.

  20. There are good guys and then there are REALLY good guys and Mike Ungs was all that!
So many good memories of time spent out at the Ungs ranch with Mike and Nancy from the time I was just a kid! It was just a great place to gather and talk over the trials and tribulations of life and maybe have Mike”s favorite… a rum and Coke…..Mikes laugh always made the jokes just a little funnier! So many laughs we all had!
Mike did not expect alot… took life as it came, made the best of it, and was HAPPY…we all could take a page out of that playbook.
It was a shame to watch Parkinson disease snuff that light out, but we trust that today he is surrounded by his family and friends above and his laughter is heard again!
Rest in peace dear Mike you deserve it, you fought well, the battle is done..
