Nellie  M. Wamsher, age 83 of New Hampton, Iowa died on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.  Nellie Mae (Weaver)Wamsher was born July 28, 1924 in De Soto, Iowa  to Will and Florence (McGowan) Weaver.  She graduated from Woodside High School in Des Moines. She lived in and around Des Moines until her marriage to Ralph Wamsher on July 23, 1943 in Des Moines.  Post World War II, Nellie and Ralph lived in Pennsylvania and California while Ralph finished his service in the United States Navy in 1947.  The Wamshers moved to Lawler, Iowa for a short time before settling in New Hampton.  Nellie enjoyed gardening, reading, crocheting and was an exceptional seamstress.  As did most mothers at the time, Nellie stayed home to raise her three daughters.  She did work for a short time as a telephone operator in New Hampton and served for many years on the local election board.  Nellie was always a good friend and neighbor to those around her, often providing transportation for those who did not have their own way. Nellie is survived by three daughters Lynn (Ron) Karnatz of Norwalk, IA, Bonnie (David) Eernisse of Savage, MN, and Jane (Dan) Angell  of Maple Grove, MN.;  one sister Peggy (Robert) Short of Des Moines; five grandchildren Matthew (Erin) Karnatz, Mark (Crystal) Karnatz, Victoria (Josh) Thompson , Nicollette (Tim) McMenomy, and Jon (Andrea) Angell; great grandchildren Michael Karnatz, Rylie Karnatz, Halie Karnatz, Samantha McMenomy and Hannah Thompson.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph who died in1987, two brothers and four sisters.     Memorials: Memorials preferred to Norwalk Fire and Rescue, 1100 Chatham, Norwalk, IA  50211 Cemetery: Burial will be in the New Hampton Cemetery with Matthew Karnatz, Mark Karnatz, Michael Karnatz, Jon Angell, Josh Thompson and Tim McMenomy serving as casket bearers.  Honorary casket bearers will be Randy Slick, John Slick, Ovey Johnson, Tim Angell, Steve Angell Visitation: Visitation will be from 12:30pm to the time of the service at the funeral home. Service: Funeral services will be 1:30 pm on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at the Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home chapel with Reverend John Harpel officiating.
